USE & CARE GUIDE
Congratulations on the purchase of your new Walk In Bathtub. It was proudly manufactured by BOCA Walk In Tubs, Inc. in Georgia, USA. Your bathtub has been constructed to the highest standards using the most modern manufacturing techniques available at BOCA Walk In Tubs, Inc. We pride ourselves in
manufacturing the best quality walk in bathtub available on the market today. Before leaving the factory every bathtub is rigorously tested. The tub and door handle are completely water tested for leaks. When the tub leaves the factory it is in perfect working order ready for installation. Rest assured, we have supplied you with a magnificent product built to provide you with an enjoyable bathing experience for years ahead. By carefully following your new Walk In Bathtub’s instructions, you
can benefit from safety, dignity, independence and a tremendously improved quality of life.
GETTING STARTED
Enter the tub and sit down if desired. Close the door and seal it by pushing the handle away from you into the locked position. Close the floor drain with the twist locking mechanism. Fill the tub to a depth best suited to your needs. Please remember you must fill the bathtub to at least 2” above the uppermost spa jets to take advantage of the maximum benefits of your Walk In Tub’s hydrotherapy
spa system.
A Cautionary Word about the Door Handle
Even though the handle is fabricated from the strongest materials available it will not withstand a person putting their whole weight against it while either trying to pull themselves up out of the bathtub or using excessive force closing the door. If used in either of these ways the bath shell around the bottom of the handle will ultimately break. The handle is designed as a handle and nothing more.
User misuse of the handle will not be covered by the warranty.
HAND HELD SHOWERHEAD:
The showerhead is mounted along side of the faucet assembly. With the water running, simply push down on diverter valve to engage the shower. To disengage the shower simply turn off the water and the valve will automatically be released.
HYDROTHERAPY SPA SYSTEM:
- Water/Air Jets:
The hydrotherapy operation is controlled by a circular button located on the top/inside of the tub. The round knob controls the flow of air bubbles. To turn the spa on/off, press the circular button. When the tub is full, the upper jets produce the proper Hydrotherapy libation to move the water correctly. The bottom jets around your calves and feet are gently activated. Running the spa on its maximum setting requires the water level to be at least 2” above the top spa jets. - Air Jets Only:
The hydrotherapy operation is controlled by a round control keypad which is located on the inside wall of the tub. This pad controls the flow of air bubbles. To turn the spa on, push the blue button with swirls on it, this is the blower. To turn the blower off press it again. The next button with a + increases the speed, release pressure at the desired speed. The next button with a – decreases the speed, and again release pressure at the desired speed. We can assure you that we use the best materials and apply the most strict quality control measures to ensure that each and every unit meets the highest standards of the Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Your new massage system provides you with a gentle, overall massage.
IMPORTANT STANDARD FUNCTION:
A drying cycle will automatically start the blower for 1 minute, 20 minutes after you stop the system.
- MINI BIDET JET:
Additional Only, if installed The mini bidet jet has a simple “Twist and Turn Knob” installed on the inside of the Walk In Bathtub. (Optional Item- Not all tubs have the Mini Bidet Jet) - AFTER BATHING:
Open the twist drain to safely drain the tub. Allow the water to drain until it is well below the bottom of the door. Afterward, pull the door handle up and toward you to unlock and open the door. We hope that you have enjoyed bathing again. If you have any further questions or issues please feel free to call us. Thank you for your purchase and please remember to fill out all warranty cards and send them in. Keep all papers together in a safe place for future reference.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
No, there is no need to. Never adjust, move, undo or tamper with the door hinge as this can invalidate the warranty.
To maintain the longevity of the high gloss finish we recommend a wipe over after every use with any non-abrasive cleaning liquid. It is also very important that you wipe around the door seal to remove any dirt or debris after every use. Damage to the door seal can invalidate the warranty. Your Air System will self-purge after 20 minutes of non-use, leaving the system clean and dry. Soft scrub or fiberglass cleaner can also be used for cleaning and purchased at stores such as Home Depot and Lowes.
Bubble bath can be used in moderation. The spa is very powerful and bubbles will form rapidly. Salts should be added gradually to the bath to allow the salts to dissolve properly.
Yes, any GRP repair kit from a yacht chandler will repair the chip.
Yes, however, as a safety precaution, after a while the air spa shuts off on its own. To restart, leave the spa in the off position for 15 minutes and the thermal cut off will reset itself. The spa can then be restarted.
No, the door is fitted using a stainless steel piano hinge which is very strong and will keep the door in its position. It is not designed to take the weight of a person. To lean on the door could result in door movement or misalignment and could cause a leak. This can also invalidate the warranty.
The only periodical maintenance that may need to be done is the tightening of the door handle, if the handle ever becomes loose. To do this, simply tighten the retaining locking nut until the required tension is acquired. Do not alter the door fittings, tamper with the hinge or try to get a closer fit on the seal. The tubs are completely water tested prior to leaving the factory and all the tolerances and clearances are factory set.
IMPORTANT
Children and severely handicapped individuals should not be allowed to use the tub unless under close adult supervision. Electrical devices such as a hair dryer, telephone, reading lamp, electric shaver, radio, television set, etc. should not be allowed anywhere near the tub while in use. Prior to using the tub, users with known medical conditions, such as pregnancy, kidney disease, diabetes, heart problems, high/low blood pressure, etc., should discuss appropriate use with their professional medical advisors. Users on prescription or over-the-counter medications should also consult their medical advisor before use. Use of drugs and/or alcoholic beverages before or during the tub use can lead to loss of consciousness and potentially drowning. Other than for purposes described in the Customer “Use & Care Guide”, any other use or misuse will invalidate the Warranty. Door handles are for entering and exiting the tub. Door handles are not to be used as grab bars and doing so can compromise the integrity of the water-tight seal and may void the Warranty. Interfering, modifying, disassembling or changing the installer’s installation of any of the mechanical, electrical and structural part, without express written permission of BOCA Walk In Tubs, Inc. will void the Warranty and could subject the user to bodily harm. Keep the areas adjacent to the tub and in particular in front of the door, clean and dry. A non-slip mat is highly recommended. If while running the hydrotherapy system unusual noises, odors or smoke is noticed, push the “TEST” button of the GFI Socket to interrupt power and call a licensed electrician. Never inset any object of any kind into slots, jets, and openings on the tub. Doing so could create a risk of shock. Do not fill the tub with water above the threshold prior to entering it and securely closing the door. Although we recommend that temperatures of the bath water should never exceed 104 (F) and use should be limited to approximately 20-25 minutes, followed by a cool shower, you should always consult your professional medical advisor and follow his/her advice on these matters. Considerably lower temperatures are suggested for children and extended use beyond 20-25 minutes, but here too, you should always consult your child’s professional medical advisor and follow his/her advice on these matters. Never use the tub during a lighting storm as this could create a risk of electrical shock.
Our mission is to make a quality Walk in Bathtub here in the USA and to help those who have not been able to step into and out of a tub and would love to take a bath again. We hope that you will enjoy bathing again safely and independently and that you will have an improved quality of life.
